Role
- Follows patients through all stages of growth and development, wellness and illness, from one setting to another, in collaboration with physicians and allied health providers
- Works in partnership with the practice healthcare team to provide care to the entire patient population.
- Focuses on providing assessment, screening, healthy lifestyle support, education and chronic disease management with a goal of improving health outcomes and facilitating access to services
- Provides holistic assessments and creates linkages with appropriate community resources
- Applies recognized clinical practice guidelines
Scope of Care
- Health assessments
- Healthcare management and therapeutic interventions
- Health promotion and prevention of illness, injury, and complications
- Health education
- Professional role and responsibility
Qualifications
- Registration with the BC College of Nursing Professionals as a practicing RN registrant
- Basic life support, Level C for general duty Staff Nurse positions
- Specialty certification may be required for specialty areas such as Operating Room, Post Anesthetic Recovery, Obstetrics, Pediatrics, and Psychiatry
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support and specialty certification for Critical Care, Emergency and Intensive Care.
